Team Meet Guidelines
Basic Team Guidelines for Meets.

1.  Everyone comes on the bus.  That way coaches know that everyone will make it to the meet.

2.  For weekday meets, you will NOT LEAVE CLASS EARLY!!  For weekend meets, please be out in front of the school no later than 15 minutes before pick-up time.  WE WAIT FOR NO ONE WHO IS LATE!!

3.  You will compete in the uniform that you were given and wear it correctly.  Make sure all jewlery is removed.  Not doing either is grounds for disqualification.

4.  You will stay in the track/stadium area at all times.  You will not leave the campus for any reason unless your parent is picking you up because you have a legitimate reason for leaving the meet early.

5.  You will remain in the team area unless you are warming up, competing, or using the rest room.  Down time is not the time for you to go wondering around and yapping with your friends in the stands.

6.  There are no boom-boxes or any other music device with speakers allowed at meets.  You bring any other electronic devices out at your own risk.  When you are preparing to compete, your phone is to remain put away.

7.  You are a representative of Glendale High School, thus your actions reflect on the school as a whole.  Exibit good sportsmanship at all times toward everyone involved with the meet as well as spectators.  We cheer for our team no matter what place they are in.  They work hard just like you, and deserve your appreciation.

8.  We leave our area clean when the meet is over.

9.  For home meets, everyone helps get equipment out, and helps put equipment away.  This also includes moving hurdles out for the hurdle races.

10.  NEVER RUN ALONGSIDE ANYONE WHO IS COMPETING!!  YOU WILL DISQUALIFY THEM!

11.  Unless you substain an injury or fall sick just before your race, only a coach can pull you out of an event.

12.  Do not just sit in the team area in your own world oblivious to the meet, or start playing games in  the team area or on the field.  Others cheared for you when you competed.  You need to return the favor.

Meet Procedures.

1.  For weekday meets, everyone needs to start warming up as soon as you get off the bus.  4 x 100 relay teams need to warm-up together.  Coaches will get the information about where events are, the order of events, and so on.  They will be posted in the team area along with the line-up.

2.  All Long/Triple Jumpers need to get checked in and have their marks set BEFORE the first event.  You will not be allowed to enter after the event starts, nor will you be able to get runthroughs.

3.  For Throwing events and Pole Vault, you will report to that area and probably stay there for most of the meet.

4.  High Jumpers will need to listen carefully so they can hear when to report to the event.

5.  All runners will have to report to the clerk of the course for check in prior to the race.  This is to be done well in advance.  In races run in lanes, our best runner will ALWAYS get first choice of lanes for us.  KNOW WHAT LANE YOU GOT!!

6.  While some meets have a time guide for events, they are only a guideline.  It is the athlete's responsibility to know when their events are and to warm-up at the proper time and to report on time.  KNOW THE ORDER OF EVENTS AND LISTEN FOR THE CALLS.

7.  Always warm-up before your event and cool-down after.  Many will do this 2, 3. or 4 times in a meet!!

8.  Look both ways before crossing the track.  Never cut across any field event area.

9.  If you are doing a job at the meet instead of competing (scorekeeping, helping at a field event, card runner, etc.) then you are there for the entire meet.

10.  There will be supplies for injuries at the meet.  These are NOT your own personal supply.  Adults will be in the team area to help assist you.  You are responsible for you own topical creams (IcyHot, etc.) as well as any medical items you are suppose to have.  Ice is for Injuries ONLY.

11.  Pay attention to the starter and his directions.
