Letter Award Guidelines
An Athletic Letter is given for those who have shown competative excellence throughout the season.  There are different ways of earning a letter as well as a couple of different letter levels.

To earn a Varsity Letter, you need to do one of the following:

1.  Score 14 points in league meets (5 for 1st, 3 for 2nd, 1 for 3rd) in varsity events.  League finals also counts (1 for making league finals, 10 for 1st, 8 for 2nd, 6 for 3rd, 4 for 4th, 2 for 5th, 1 for 6th.

2.  Set a school Varsity Record.

3.  Finish in the top 5 at League Finals in the Varsity Division.

If a Junior or Senior scores between 3 and 13 varsity points, they can earn a JV letter.

To earn a Frosh/Soph Letter, you need to do the following:

1.  Score 10 points in league meets, including league finals, in frosh/soph events.  Points are the same as listed above.

2.  Set a school Frosh/Soph Record

3.  Finish in the top 5 at league finals in the Frosh/Soph Division.

If a Frosh/Soph athlete has scored varsity points, but not enough to earn a varsity letter, the points will be converted to frosh/soph points at a rate of 1 varsity point = 2 frosh/soph points.

If a Frosh/soph scores at least one point, but under 10, they can earn a Junior "G" Letter.

A coach may recommend that an athlete receive a higher award than what they earned.

Becoming ineligible before season's end reduces the athlete to a participant.

Leaving the team (for any reason), the athlete forfeits all awards, letters, etc.
